Mitigation to Help Restore & Protect Louisiana’s Wetlands

Need to offset unavoidable wetland impacts through high-quality mitigation? Credits from the Calcasieu Mitigation Bank are your ideal solution.

The Calcasieu Mitigation Bank is owned and operated by Ecosystem Investment Partners (EIP)—a leading provider of environmental credits. Mitigation credits from EIP enable you to satisfy the requirements of your environmental permit quickly and cost-effectively while eliminating liability exposure. Credit purchases also promote the conservation and restoration of the rare, imperiled, and difficult to replace pine savanna wetland habitat.

The Calcasieu Mitigation Bank is approved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to fulfill mitigation requirements of Section 404 Clean Water Act permits.(1)

Restoration Initiative

Pine savannas, rich in in biodiversity, once blanketed most of the Gulf South. Decimated by logging, development, and fire suppression, less than 2% of this original habitat now remains. This habitat is so important—and rare—that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the state’s Natural Heritage program have classified it in the highest-importance category, “Rare, Imperiled, and Difficult to Replace.” At the Calcasieu Mitigation Bank, EIP has restored and permanently protected over 1,400 acres of this vital habitat through the re-introduction of fire, hydrology restoration and planting of over 460,000 native longleaf pine trees.

After Restoration: Pine Savanna Habitat Restored
After Restoration: Landscape of Calcasieu property
After Restoration: Native Species Return to the Property
During Restoration: Controlled burns used to restore native species and growth cycle
Before Restoration: Monoculture onsite
Before Restoration: Portion of Property used for Pine Plantation
